New Home Sewing Machine Company, 900 Olive Street, published this advertisement card. Technically it was not a postcard but a "trade card". Salesmen would hand this out possibly on a street corner to advertise their wares.

Famous Cherokee Cave was once a tourist attraction. Fossil remains of prehistoric ice-age mammals were found there. This gives the address to the entrance at 3400 South Broadway at Cherokee street. Apparently it featured stalagmite /stalagtite formations, one being known as the "Black Dahlia" and a passage known as "The Schmoo". Also for some reason the a reconstruction of a 1000 year old "Damacus Palace" was another feature.
Amazon.com gives a small percentage of sales that are purchased using links through this website (or the search box tool). The revenue goes toward the acquisition of additional historical postcards. So if you enjoyed this site or found the graphics helpful, I would be greatly appreciative that bookmark this site whenever they make purchases from Amazon. The links are generated by Amazon.com, are secure, and your privacy is guaranteed. This ensures that a small part of your purchase is returned to promote the history of Metro St. Louis, that otherwise would not.
